Comparison universe

What qualifies for inclusion

  • The product must be offered by a U.S. bank or credit union with a traceable legal institution identity.
  • The product page or disclosure must publish an APY or another clearly defined rate.
  • Availability and material eligibility restrictions must be understood well enough to classify the offer.
  • Promotional offers that cannot be compared consistently may be excluded or displayed separately.
  • Products under unresolved institution or brand review are not treated as fully eligible national comparisons.

Verification

Every displayed rate needs evidence and a clock

Official source URL

The stored source should be controlled by the institution or its verified consumer banking brand.

Verification time

The date and time of the last successful review are displayed or retained with the record.

Recheck deadline

A rate must be reviewed again before its freshness window expires.

Anomaly review

Unexpected jumps, missing terms or conflicting values are held for review rather than automatically promoted.

Compared fields

APY is only one part of the offer

FieldHow it is used
APYStandard annualized yield used for primary rate sorting when products are otherwise comparable.
Interest rateDisplayed separately when the institution publishes both the nominal rate and APY.
TermUsed to separate fixed-term certificates and prevent unlike maturities from being treated as identical.
Opening minimumShows the amount required to open the account.
Balance to earn APYDistinguishes opening requirements from the balance required for the advertised yield.
FeesMaterial recurring fees are shown because they can reduce practical value.
AvailabilityClassifies nationwide, state-limited, local and membership-restricted products.

Sorting and labels

What “highest” and “best” mean

“Highest APY” means the highest current APY among the records eligible for the selected filters. It does not mean the product is the best choice for every person.

A broader “best” label requires a sufficiently large comparison universe and consideration of material terms such as fees, minimum balances, eligibility and access. Bankular should not publish a national best claim from a narrow or incomplete dataset.

Compensation does not change the mathematical sort order of eligible records.

Freshness controls

Stale rates do not remain competitive results

  1. 1

    Verify

Capture the rate and material terms from the official source.

  2. 2

    Schedule

Assign a recheck deadline based on the product and source.

  3. 3

    Expire

Remove the record from current comparison results when the deadline passes.

  4. 4

    Reinstate

Return it only after successful reverification.

Limitations

Rates can change without notice

A verified rate is a record of what the official source displayed at a particular time. Institutions may change rates, tiers, fees and eligibility before Bankular’s next review. Confirm the current terms and deposit-insurance relationship directly before opening or funding an account.
