How Bankular researches, reviews and corrects financial information
Bankular combines primary regulatory datasets with information published by financial institutions. This policy explains how data pages, rate comparisons and editorial guides are produced.
Independence
Information and rankings are not sold
Bankular is an independent publisher and is not a bank, credit union, regulator, broker or financial adviser. Institutions cannot purchase a higher rate position, a better financial-health presentation or a more favourable market-share ranking.
Advertising or affiliate relationships, when present, must be disclosed. Compensation does not change the underlying rate, regulatory figure, branch record or ranking calculation shown to users.
Source standards
Primary sources come first
Institution and branch data
FDIC and NCUA identifiers, financial filings, office records and annual Summary of Deposits data are preferred over third-party summaries.
Deposit rates
Rates must link to an official institution product, disclosure or rate page and include a verification timestamp and recheck deadline.
Operational details
Hours, phone numbers, services and appointment information are shown only when verified from an institution-controlled source or another reliable attributable source.
Interpretation
Calculated values identify their reporting period and methodology. Bankular does not present an estimate as an official source value.
Automation and AI
Automation supports scale, not fabrication
Bankular uses software to retrieve public datasets, normalize names and addresses, connect official identifiers, calculate market statistics, detect stale records and generate consistent page components.
Automated systems must not invent rates, hours, phone numbers, services, credentials, reviews or financial conclusions. Ambiguous institution identities and consumer-brand relationships are held for review rather than silently guessed.
Editorial automation may assist with structure, summaries and quality checks. Material financial claims must remain traceable to visible data or cited sources.
Rate reviews
Current, comparable and qualified
- Every public rate requires an official source URL and a recorded verification time.
- APY, term, opening minimum, balance requirement, fees, availability and eligibility are stored separately where available.
- Expired or anomalous records are removed from public comparisons until reverified.
- Consumer brands are connected to the legal insured institution so deposit-insurance relationships are not obscured.
- “Best” or “highest” claims are used only when the eligible comparison universe is broad enough to support the statement.
Bylines and review
Real responsibility, no invented credentials
Editorial guides and original research should identify the responsible author or data team, the last updated date and the reviewer when a substantive review occurred. Bankular does not assign professional credentials that a contributor has not actually earned.
Corrections
Errors should be easy to report and verify
A correction request should include the affected URL, the incorrect field, the proposed correction and a supporting primary source. Verified corrections are applied without altering the stable regulatory identifier behind the record.
