What this ranking measures

City markets ranked by deposits assigned to physical offices

The FDIC Summary of Deposits assigns deposit balances to individual offices once each year. Bankular groups those office records by city and state, then ranks eligible markets by total reported deposits.

To reduce thin or unstable comparisons, this table includes city markets with at least five reporting offices and at least two institutions. “Largest-bank share” shows the leading institution’s portion of city deposits. HHI is the sum of squared institution market shares and provides a standard concentration indicator.

These figures do not represent every customer relationship or all deposits generated online. Some institutions assign large balances to a small number of offices, so deposit size should be read alongside branch count, institution count and concentration.
